Conjunctions: 34, American Fiction: States of the Art
Published in Paperback by Conjunctions (01 May, 2000)
Author: Bradford Morrow
Average review score:

A wonderful collection in its own right
Conjunctions has for a long time been a source of truly new and groundbreaking writing in American Literature. The current issue not only continues this trend, but even exceeds the high water mark set by earlier editions of the journal, taking the time, as it does, to focus only on prose (saving the poetry, I understand, for the next issue). Collected in one place we have stories by some of our finest writers, set alongside works by newer, promising authors. From Coover's phantasmagoric and playful "Alice in the Time of the Jabberwock" to Paul West's haunting tale, this collection is thought-provoking and expansive.

The Continent of Lies
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (June, 1985)
Author: James Morrow
Average review score:

Morrow's first great book
Anyone who has caught up with James Morrow in the 90s, as I have, will want to check out this earlier work. This book shows the same skewed sense of humor he later put to more acclaimed effect in BIBLE STORIES FOR ADULTS and TOWING JEHOVAH. The story concerns Quinjin, a reviewer of dreambeans--sort of a virtual reality device you consume. Someone has created a dreambean so horrible that the dreamers get trapped in the fantasy world, including Quinjin's daughter.

Electronic Resume Revolution: Create a Winning Resume for the New World of Job Seeking
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (November, 1995)
Authors: Joyce Lain Kennedy and Thomas J. Morrow
Average review score:

Strongly recommended for everyone looking for a job today
I strongly recommend this book to everyone looking for any type of job in today's job market. Regardless of your circumstance or situation, this book will grab your attention and introduce you to the concept of the "online resume". The authors do an excellent job of giving the reader strong examples of how more and more companies are using computer technology to screen applicants for available positions by scanning for "keywords" throughout an individual's resume, and why tailoring one's resume' to that technology is crucial for success. Using examples obtained from professional personnel managers and recruiters, the authors convincingly prove their case that an applicant must adapt to the world of jobseeking in the technological resume age and forget about the old resume norms. Writing in plain English, the authors state their case quickly then proceed to likewise prove it. Furthermore, they provide the reader with a cornucopia of resume styles and formats. They even give helpful hints on overcoming past employment difficulties such as prolonged unemployment and how to use existing experience in an unrelated field to one's advantage when looking to change careers. This book will give anyone looking for their first job or looking to change careers a leg up on the competition in today's cutthroat world of job searching.

Extra Success Potential: The Art of Out-Thinking and Out-Sensing Others in Business and Everyday Life
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (June, 1981)
Author: Harold Morrow, Sherman
Average review score:

You are your every thought
I am a person who cannot agree with any one theory that says: "your ultimate way to happnies is 'X' or 'Z'". Yet, Harold Sherman's revolutionary concepts make you re think and re learn all you thought you knew.

Basically, the core thesis of his thought is: you create your own reality - wheter its in business, private or whatever. The universe works under a constant "cause and effect" law, ruled impersonally.

Put your mind to good use, hold clear images of what you would like manifested, beyond wishful thinking or simple day dreaming; clear images, and see your life change before your very eyes. My sincere wish is that all people would have a chance to put this very basic principle to use.
